Lizbeth's Contributions:

Drawing upon her passion for environmental sustainability, Lizbeth collaborated with like-minded creative students, Monica and Bintou, to form a dynamic team. Together, they embarked on a journey of planning and executing the mural design, which they named "Humanity's Dichotomy." This mural aimed to depict the contrasting realities of human impact on the environment.

Lizbeth focused her artistic expertise on crafting impactful graffiti letters that read, "Where Do You Stand?" This powerful statement acted as a reflective mantra, urging viewers to contemplate their personal involvement and impact within the ongoing climate justice conversation. The question resonated deeply, encouraging individuals to critically assess their role in addressing environmental challenges.

Collaborating closely with Monica, Lizbeth meticulously placed mirrors in the center of the mural. This strategic placement symbolized the need for introspection and self-reflection, emphasizing the role of every individual in shaping the future of our planet. By incorporating mirrors, Lizbeth and Monica aimed to instigate a sense of personal responsibility and encourage viewers to confront their own actions and choices.

On the left-hand side of the mural, Lizbeth and Monica collaborated to showcase a vibrant and abundant life. Through their artistic talents, they painted a vivid landscape teeming with diverse flora and fauna, representing the beauty and interconnectedness of nature. This vibrant depiction served as a powerful reminder of the precious ecosystems at stake and the urgent need to preserve them.

Conversely, on the right-hand side of the mural, Bintou did a beautiful portrayal of the devastating consequences of human influence, focusing on issues such as deforestation. Through striking imagery and symbolic elements, Bintou aimed to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of unsustainable practices and inspire viewers to take action.

In summary, Lizbeth Sandoval's project for the Leonard Bernstein Festival of Arts at Brandeis University brought together a talented group of individuals dedicated to the cause of climate action. Through their collaborative efforts, they created "Humanity's Dichotomy," a mural that served as a powerful visual representation of the challenges our planet faces. Lizbeth, Monica, and Bintou utilized their collective artistic skills to illuminate the need for personal reflection, individual responsibility, and collective action in addressing the urgent issue of climate change.
