The Melody Mentors: Program Initiative

The Melody Mentors Program, spearheaded by Lizbeth Sandoval during her tenure as President of Basement Records, an on-campus club at Brandeis University, is an innovative initiative aimed at fostering creative collaboration and empowering young talents. In collaboration with COMPACT and with the invaluable assistance of Jimmy Kang, the VP of Wu-Tang Management and CEO of STR8UP Entertainment, this program connects high school students from Africano Waltham with the talented Brandeis Creatives to create captivating music together.

Lizbeth's Contributions:

The main objective of The Melody Mentors Program is to provide high school students with a hands-on experience in the entire song-making process, from stepping into the recording studio to singing into the microphone. By engaging in this immersive journey, these students gain a profound understanding of the music production process and the opportunity to unleash their creative potential.

Throughout the program, participants are paired with Brandeis Creatives, who act as mentors and guides throughout their musical journey. These mentors bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, providing high school students with invaluable insights, techniques, and inspiration to help them refine their skills and nurture their artistic talents.

One of the unique aspects of The Melody Mentors Program is the emphasis on the creative autonomy of high school students. They are encouraged to express their individuality and personal stories through original lyrics produced by them. By sharing their experiences, thoughts, and emotions, these students contribute to the creation of authentic and meaningful songs that reflect their unique perspectives and aspirations.

The Melody Mentors Program not only promotes artistic growth and collaboration but also fosters a sense of community and cultural exchange. By bringing together students from Africano Waltham and Brandeis Creatives, the program encourages cross-cultural understanding and appreciation, bridging the gap between different communities and celebrating diversity through the universal language of music.

Through Lizbeth Sandoval's visionary leadership, Basement Records, in partnership with COMPACT and with the support of Jimmy Kang, has established The Melody Mentors Program as a transformative and empowering experience for high school students. By cultivating creativity, fostering collaboration, and providing opportunities for self-expression, this program serves as a catalyst for personal growth and artistic development, creating a positive impact in the lives of participants and the broader community.
